Manufactured Uniqueness

I designed a rig inspired by the tension of rubber bands, which are commonly used to hold plaster moulds together. The rig transforms semi-wet porcelain lips in a symmetrical manner. The outcome is surprisingly, much like official Chinese Ru ware, which was characterized by its lotus-shaped rims.

在陶瓷工廠中，橡皮筋使用於製作陶瓷的石膏模，將模具結合起來。此陶瓷項目中，設計了一項工具，概念取自於橡皮筋的張力，可讓翻模後半乾濕的陶土，變成對稱的幾何造型。試做的過程中，意外發現成品類似於中國陶瓷常使用的蓮花造型，並帶有汝窯中的瑕疵個性。

The rig is essentially a flexible and adjustable mould that can be applied to manufactured flatware and hollowware during the sponge stage. The rig allows factory workers to control and change the shape of pieces, to create unique pieces with a human touch.

此工具中，有各種不同直徑的同心圓，開六邊孔洞，木棒可進行高度的調整，符合不同直徑的盤子與各式深度的陶瓷製作。壓製的過程中，可進行大批量生產，並且讓每一個陶瓷單品產生其獨特性的美感。
