Shiyuan Hu 是一位產品設計師， 2018畢業於Royal College of Art 皇家藝術學院MA Design Products 產品設計碩士學位。GRAVITY是他其中一個畢業作品，他透過地球的重力GRAVITY來進行實驗性的產品設計作品，Gravity探索了一種新的製作方法，利用重力製作陶瓷餐具。
陶瓷工廠通常使用模具和高壓生產產品。這種方式可以製造大量完美且完全相同的產品，但也會造成產品缺失一種手工產品所具有的生動感。
In ceramic factories, they always use the mold and high pressure to make objects. It makes perfect objects in large numbers that are all exactly the same. This may cause the loss of the sense of ‘life’ that a handmade object contains.
這個項目嘗試將濕陶坯放置在模具上並從一定的高度墜落。陶坯在墜落的過程中會因重力作用被模具塑形。這個過程用重力取代了工廠生產中使用的高壓。
In this project, a wet porcelain sheet is placed on a mold and dropped. The porcelain sheet can be deformed by gravity. It uses gravity to replace high pressure. (The process is shown in the video)
每次陶坯墜落後的塑形成果都有略不同，使得每個工業生產的陶瓷產品都獨一無二
The effect is different each time.
It aims to make each of the industrial ceramic products unique.
若工廠採納此種方式， 利用重力替代高壓生產陶瓷， 用於產生高壓的能量將會被節省， 從 產的成本及產品價格將會降低。產品的形狀及組合方式的靈感來源於同樣是由於墜落形成的水波。
If the factory change high pressure into gravity, the power for generating high pressure can be saved, so not only the energy but also the cost can be reduced. The shape and the overlap of the tableware are inspired by the ripple which is also caused by dropping.
現代的我們享受著科技的果實，然而，世界上仍有許多角落礙於資源的有限、地處偏遠，甚至連最基本乾淨的水源、較好的醫療照護都不可得，當尖端科技難以進入這些地區，或因缺乏電力而無用武之地，有些小發明卻也因此因應而生。
Shiyuan Hu的實驗性設計非常有趣，透過節省能源為前提，透過地球上無形的自然資源GRAVITY 重力來探討設計的可行性。如果地球沒有重力會變成如何？是否會讓我們的生活更不一樣？正如Metropolis大都市雜誌的文章所說，外太空的空間站內，很多人因此而飽受迷失方向感的困惑和噁心，同時還伴有由於缺乏地面的心理錯覺產生的噁心感，就因為沒有重力。
設計師要如何應用我們原本都存在的資源，是一種天份也是一種能力，這是身為一個設計課題的延伸。
