皇家藝術學院 Royal College of Art 畢業生 Ji Chen

Royal College of Art 皇家藝術學院是一所位於英國倫敦的大學，主打藝術和設計專業。學校始建於1837年，自1967年成為大學。同時，皇家藝術學院也是唯一提供研究生及以上學位的教育機構。在2017 QS世界大學排名中，皇藝位列藝術與設計排名第一，蟬聯3年至高學術地位。

以下為這次作品的介紹：

Ji Chen 創造了一系列當代紡織品，通過調查材料與紡織構造之間的關係，探索“表面”的可能性，創造出利用機織紡織結構，激光切割和粘接的創新表面。

Ji Chen has created a collection of contemporary textiles which explore the possibility of “surface” through investigating the relationship between material and textile tectonics to create innovative surfaces which utilize woven textile structures, laser cutting and bonding. 

幾何形狀和顏色比例的組成喚起了感覺的純潔度。大自然的形式可以用顏色和紡織構造來代表。

The composition of geometric shapes and colour proportion evokes the purity of feeling. The form of nature can be represented by colour and textile tectonics.

這項工作旨在通過將紡織結構應用於物體來將自然形態轉化為幾何形狀;通過使用紡織技術和顏色比例來建立自然節奏的反映，反复幾何圖案回應無盡的感覺和重複的本質。

The work aims to translate natural form into geometric shape through the application of textile structure into objects; by using textile techniques and colour proportion to build up a reflection of natural rhythm, and repeated geometry patterns echoing the essence of endless feeling and repetition.

Ji Chen 研究了編織結構中經線和緯紗之間的關係，以連接創造3D視覺感的平板。Ji 已經探索了顏色比例和幾何形狀，以便在每個設計中發現更大的可能性。使用彩條和扭曲圖案的組合來改變比例，並利用每個面板之間的不同間隙來產生各種紡織品錯覺。

Ji Chen has researched the relationship between warp and weft in weave construction to connect flat panels which have created a visual sense of a 3D object. I have explored the colour ratio and geometric form to discover greater possibilities in each design. I have used a combination of colour stripes and distorted patterns to change the proportion and utilize different gap between each of the panels to create various textile illusions.

這些紡織品可以應用於身體和配件，空間和體系結構，並可以縮放以適應每個應用。所使用的材料和形狀可以根據每種應用來開發。

These textiles can be applied to body and accessories or space and architecture and can be scaled to fit each application. The materials and shapes used can be developed in line with each application.
